Listening to Your Clients

It’s not enough to listen to your clients.

They have to KNOW that you hear them!

I’ll tell you a story without using names, so we’ll call the parties involved “Client” and “Agency.”

I used to work for Agency as the creative director for all of the in-house creators. Agency was extremely successful and was working with some unbelievably high-profile clients while I worked there, including Client.

My job was supposed to only be directing the creators within Agency, but I ended up becoming a liaison between Agency’s creators and Client because nobody else was communicating enough with Client.

Everything was going well and Agency was hitting record numbers for Client while I was operating their creatives… until I left.

The only person from Agency who was willing to make Client feel heard was gone, and all of Agency’s results left with me.

I learned a few weeks ago that Client terminated their contract shortly after I left.

I tell you this story to show that listening to your clients isn’t enough. If they don’t also FEEL heard, it’s as good as being ignored!

Even when results are promising, clients often feel confused, panicked, and lost. Our job is to hold their hand while we do our work and help them understand exactly what’s happening and why – it’s their job to understand!

If you like my approach, I’m always eager to build relationships with new clients.

Shoot me a message! I’ll take care of you.
